Your spinbook subscription & billing
spinbook is free until your first real booking. How the free setup period works, how to subscribe, manage your plan and payment method, download invoices, and cancel.

This page covers what you pay spinbook: your subscription. It's completely separate from the payments your couples make to you (those stay between you and your couples, through the Venmo/PayPal/Zelle handles you set in Branding & payments).
Free until your first real booking
spinbook costs nothing to set up. Build your portal, brand it, wire up your booking form, and try every feature with test bookings: bookings made with your own login email, a teammate's email, or the designated test email you can set in Settings → Booking form. Test bookings work fully, forever, plan or no plan.
A real booking is an event moved to a Booked status whose client email isn't one of yours. The moment one comes in, your plan kicks in:
- You still get the email notification with the client's details, and new inquiries keep arriving as usual.
- Opening that booking in the portal (its checklist, planning form, timeline, payments, and the couple's portal) needs an active plan. Until then those bookings show as locked rows on your dashboard.
- Subscribe and everything unlocks instantly, including bookings that arrived while you were deciding.
Subscribing
- Go to Account in the top navigation. Your subscription is right at the top.
- Pick a plan and select Get spinbook!
- You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout page to enter your card and billing address. Your card details never touch spinbook; they're handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor.
- After paying you land back on your Account page, which shows your active plan and renewal date. A receipt goes to your billing email.
Managing your subscription
Select Manage billing on your Account page to open your secure Stripe portal. From there you can:
- Update your card or billing address
- Switch plans
Cancelling
Cancelling happens right on your Account page: select Cancel subscription. Your portal stays open through the end of the period you've already paid for, then real bookings lock again; there are no further charges. Changed your mind before the period ends? Use the undo right there and nothing happens.
Your data (clients, events, checklists, planning forms) is kept, so resubscribing later picks up exactly where you left off.
Invoices & receipts
Every invoice and receipt lives right on your Account page. The Invoices & receipts list shows the date, amount, and status of each charge, with a View link (opens Stripe's hosted invoice, which doubles as your receipt) and a PDF download for your records or your accountant.
Sales tax
Prices are shown before tax. Where spinbook is required to collect sales tax, Stripe calculates it from your billing address and adds it at checkout. The exact amount is shown before you confirm.
If a payment fails
Your Account page will show Past due, and Stripe retries the card automatically over the following days. Update your card via Manage billing to clear it. Your portal keeps working during the retry window.
